
DPL T20 Season 2 Auction Rules & Purse Out
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has officially announced the rules and structure for the Season 2 auctions of the Delhi Premier League (DPL T20). Scheduled for July 6 (Men’s) and July 7 (Women’s) in New Delhi, the auctions promise to be a landmark moment for Delhi cricket, with a total of eight men’s and four women’s franchises participating.
In a progressive move, players of all age groups—including U-16 cricketers—are eligible to enter the auction pool, making this one of the most inclusive domestic T20 leagues in India.
Auction Purse & Player Categories
Men’s Auction:
- Total purse per franchise: ₹1.5 crore
- Player Categories:
- Marquee Set: India/Ex-IPL players (19)
- Category A: Ex-IPL & First-Class DDCA players (35)
- Category B: DDCA U23, U19, U16 players (105)
- Category C: Regional League players (361)
Women’s Auction:
- Total purse per franchise: ₹75 lakh
- Player Categories:
- Marquee Set: India/Ex-IPL players (7)
- Category A: First-Class DDCA players (18)
- Category B: U23 & U19 players (34)
- Category C: Regional League players (96)
Retention & RTM Rules
- Each franchise can retain 1 player from any category.
- Retention deductions from purse:
- Men: ₹21L (Marquee), ₹10L (A), ₹4.5L (B), ₹1.5L (C)
- Women: ₹10.5L (Marquee), ₹6L (A), ₹2.5L (B), ₹1L (C)
- Right to Match (RTM):
- 1 RTM card per franchise
- Valid only for Categories A, B, C (not Marquee)
- New franchises cannot use RTM
Star Power & New Franchises
Over 10 IPL players—including Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Ayush Badoni, and Anuj Rawat—will headline the men’s auction. Two new men’s teams, Outer Delhi and New Delhi, will join the league, expanding it to eight franchises.
These new teams can select one player from any category after retentions, with purse deductions based on the player’s category.
