
Gill, Akash Shine as India Win Without Bumrah
India finally ended their winless streak at Edgbaston in style, defeating England by a massive 336 runs in the second Test to level the five-match series 1-1. It was India’s first-ever Test win at the venue and their biggest overseas victory by runs, surpassing the 318-run win against West Indies in 2019.
Captain Shubman Gill led from the front, scoring 269 in the first innings and 161 in the second, becoming the first visiting captain to score over 400 runs in a Test match in England. His total of 430 runs was instrumental in India posting 587 and 427/6 declared.

With Jasprit Bumrah rested, debutant Akash Deep delivered a dream performance, taking 10 wickets for 187 runs across both innings. His 6/99 in the second innings included the key wicket of Jamie Smith (88), effectively sealing the match for India.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly praised the bowling unit, saying:
