Kohli’s Viral Post Creates Stir Ahead of Perth Clash
Virat Kohli set social media abuzz ahead of India’s upcoming clash against Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Just three days before his much-awaited comeback, he dropped a cryptic message online, sparking intense debate about his future.
“The only time you truly fail is when you decide to give up,” wrote Kohli on Thursday morning on an X post that has since gone viral with over 178,000 views in 25 minutes.
The star batter last featured for India during their Champions Trophy 2025 victory in the UAE. He had hammered a century against Pakistan in the group stage and played a decisive knock in the semi-final against Australia. Kohli finished as India’s second-highest run-getter of the tournament.
Fans React as Speculation Grows
Kohli’s words quickly became a talking point. Many supporters viewed it as a signal of his commitment to upcoming ODI series duties. Some interpreted it as a sign of a personal milestone. However, hours later, the message turned out to be a teaser for an upcoming brand campaign endorsed by the former captain.
Even so, the timing of the post kept fans and cricket pundits engaged ahead of the series opener.
Kohli’s Test Exit Still Resonates
Earlier this year, Kohli endured a lean patch in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. In May, during IPL 2025 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru — where he finally lifted his maiden IPL title — Kohli shocked fans by announcing his Test retirement.
“There’s something deeply personal about playing in whites. The quiet grind, the long days, the small moments that no one sees but that stay with you forever. As I step away from this format, it’s not easy — but it feels right. I’ve given it everything I had, and it’s given me back so much more than I could’ve hoped for,” Kohli had then written on social media.
His return to the Indian squad now carries huge expectations as India prepares to face Australia in Perth.
